Pregnancy testing
If your period is late or you have symptoms such as nausea, tender breasts, tiredness or needing to urinate more often, a test in our office gives you a clear answer. A doctor can then go over what it means and what your options are, whatever you decide. Nobody will judge you for coming in.
Ultrasound
An ultrasound shows how far along you are, and that matters because it decides which options are open to you. It can confirm that the pregnancy is in the uterus, check that it is developing, and give an accurate due date. Early in pregnancy it is usually done with a small probe placed in the vagina, which is more accurate than a scan over the belly.
- Up to 15 weeks: the abortion pill is an option from 5 to 15 weeks.
- Through 15 weeks: surgical abortion is available.
- Other results: if the pregnancy is not in the right place or there is a concern, Dr. Yunis will tell you and tell you what to do next.
If you want to continue the pregnancy
Dr. Yunis is an OB/GYN, so you can come to find out for sure and talk about what comes next, including prenatal care options and where to go. We provide the accurate, honest advice you need, whatever you decide.
Go to the emergency room if
- You have a positive test and sharp pain on one side of your abdomen, pain in your shoulder, or dizziness or fainting. These can be signs of an ectopic pregnancy.
- You have heavy bleeding and severe pain.
Privacy
Your visit is private, and your records are protected by federal privacy law (HIPAA). Our support staff is all women, and we are bilingual.
